  • During the 1970’s boxing fans were treated to some of the great heavy weight battles of all time. But none captured the imagination of the public more than the battles with Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali. Their first fight in 1971 was held in New York’s Madison Square Garden, was hailed as the “Fight of the Century”. It was the first time ever two undefeated heavy weight champions went toe-to-toe, with Frazier winning a 15 round decision. The first re-match in 1974, was also held at MSG, and this time Ali prevailed in a 15 round decision. In 1975, the third and final battle took place. The venue was set up in Manila to try to maximize as much live television coverage as possible around the world. And what the world saw was an unbelievable battle between two proud warriors that ended with a TKO in the fourteenth round as Frazier could not answer the bell because of swelling over his eyes. Both fighters were completely battered, bruised and exhausted after the fight, in what most boxing enthusiasts view as the greatest fight ever. Based on an original painting by Al Sorenson. Measures 24"W X 18"H
